The Strettons Area Community Wildlife Group Toad Patrol will go ahead in 2026. The section of the road (B5477) between Montgomery Waters Ltd and All Stretton is the most hazardous section of road for amphibians to cross, as they head to the pool in Mr Parkes’s field. Unfortunately Shropshire Council is unwilling to help protect our frogs, toads and newts from being squashed on the highway and so local volunteers are needed to help them to get safely to their breeding grounds.

Frogs, toads, and newts start their migration on warmer, damp evenings so it is not possible to predict when this will happen but it is expected to be around mid to late February, based on their movement in 2025.

We do hope that residents will be mindful of these creatures as they make their journey to breed. Toad patrollers will be wearing high viz and carrying torches. If you would like to help rescue our frogs, toads and newts please Email: Julie Cowley  Please note that this is not a task for children.
