Bracken control volunteer day. We’re looking for volunteers to help us control bracken on Norbury Hill which was recently acquired by the Middle Marches Community Land Trust, after generous support from local people. Bracken bashing, cutting or scything depending on expertise!  We’ll meet at 10am and finish around 3pm at the latest (but stay for as long or as short as you like).  To book email Charlie Bell.

Hay Meadow Festival – 11am-6pm, Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, Craven Arms. Scything demonstrations, wildlife walks, programme of talks, live music, stalls, children’s activities, bar, local food and much more …! More details from the Discovery Centre.

Restoring Shropshire’s Verges Project work party – Raking and bagging green hay on the lower slopes of Little Caradoc, to assist the owners with the management of an excellent hay meadow.  The green hay will then be spread on various road verges and local meadows to help restore the diversity of flowers and fine grasses there. Habitat management for butterflies – Nipstone. We are working with Butterfly Conservation to run some volunteer work parties to improve habitat for small pearl bordered fritillary.  This will mainly be cutting and raking rushes. The day will start at 10.00am and continue until 3.00pm. Booking essential, please email Stephen Lewis.
